In-site Searches
If the site features one or more internal search functions (such as the one to the left of this page), you may start gathering their own visitor data. Tracking an in-site search engine is particularly useful in website design and site improvements. In addition to providing the figures for how many visitors have used it and ad how often, it can provide answers to questions such as these:
Which in-site search terms are used to find information?
How much is the in-site search used in general? Is a frequent or infrequent use a negative or positive sign?
Is the word being searched for because the visitor can't locate the right page on their own? Can the structure of the site be optimized or be made more intuitive and simple?
If you have Identification of organizations to your disposal, the search terms can be utilized in sales and marketing. When you know precisely what the visitor has been out for, it becomes possible to sent them an offer or an ad leaflet about that exact product or service.

Does the in-site search function as intended, do the results tend to be relevant to the search term?
Please note! The given Next page is not necessarily a suggestion from the search results! The Next page can consist of any page within the site, which the visitor has clicked after using the search function. For instance, if the visitor has two windows open simultaneously and he continues surfing in the other one while performing the search or during the search, the next click will register as the Next page.
However, if the Next page consistently does not relate to the search term, then it might be a sign that something is off with the search engine or the results it generates.
The Previous page is the page on which the visitor was surfing on as they decided to enter something into the in-site search engine.
