Installation onto a redirect page

Redirect pages can be used to imperceptibly move a visitor from one page or domain onto another. If Snoobi reports a large amount (over 20 per cent) of visits with Unknown entry method, it is possible that a redirect page is missing the Snoobi tag. Often in these situations, the redirect page is the unnoticeable page that precedes the first visible page when arriving into the site.

Depending on the type of redirection, the Snoobi tag may be needed on the first page. If the redirection is done by a heaver redirection, then the redirect page does not require the Snoobi tag (, though having the tag in place does not cause any harm). In the event that the redirection is done through a JavaScript, meta-refresh or any other non-header redirection, the tag must be included on the redirect page as well. The need for the Snoobi tag on a redirection page can be determined as follows:

  1. Go to the address http://www.rexswain.com/httpview.html

  2. Into the URL-field, copy the address of the site you wish to check and click Submit

  3. Find a section that starts with “HTTP/1.1”. This section must come after the section “Header(Lenght=xxx). The Snoobi tag has to be included on the redirect page if the numerical code is 200 (HTTP/1.1 •200 •OK). On the other hand, if the numerical code starts with a number 3, then the Snoobi tag is not required, because the redirection has likely to have been done using a header command.

Example 1: The Snoobi tag is required (Meta fresh redirection)
http://redirect.snoobi.com/redirect.php?tili=snoobi_com&id=test? HTTP/1.1•200•OK

Example 2: Snoobi is not required (Header redirection)
http://extra.snoobi.com/etusivu.php
HTTP/1.1•302•Found

If the address of the redirect page is different than the address/domain of the rest of the site, make sure that both of the addresses have been added into the Snoobi account settings, under the sites in which the tracking takes place.
