We renewed our website - why did Snoobi stop working?

Tracking and analytics matters are often forgotten when undertaking a large project such as a website redesign. Here are common reasons that cause the new website to fall out of the tracking's scope:

1. Has the Snoobi tag been installed onto the new website?

  • When creating a brand new website, oftentimes it's forgotten that the tracking tag needs to be installed. The Snoobi tag must be on each page in order to enable their tracking, so install the Snoobi tag to every page on the website. The tracking starts to function again from the moment of installation.

  • Make sure that the Snoobi tag has been installed on all pages. Especially websites that are updated via FTP run the risk of falling out of tracking, because you must remember to install the Snoobi tag on all new pages as you publish them.

  • If the tag has been installed but doesn't seem to work, ask the webmaster to ensure that the tag hasn't been commented off or placed inside another, non-closed tag. The tag must be identical to the tag in the installation e-mail. For troubleshooting, use the "Unknown entry methods" icon shown in image 1.

2. Does your new website use Flash technology?

3. Has the website's domain changed?

  •  If the website has a new domain, add the new domain into Snoobi's setting called Included domains. Snoobi will record data only from domains that have been white listed as an included website.
  • If your website fetches content from several domains, also these additional domains should be added as included domains.

4. Has the right account name been used in the Snoobi tag?

  • Don't change the account name in the tag you've been supplied. If the account name is different to the actual Snoobi tag, chances are that said account does not exist and the data it therefore lost.
