Snoobi's own URL Redirection
Those whose Snoobi-package includes Ad tracking will see a link called URL redirection in the settings of their account. This tool can be used in the tracking of such advertisements, pages and files, where any of the following apply:
- it is not possible to install Snoobi script onto the website
- the site is actually reached through multiple different redirect pages, which causes regular Ad identification tags to become inoperative
- the site has been constructed with a frames –structure, and it is not reasonable to redirect visitors into the content frame, because this would compromise the frame structure
Creating a URL redirection
Creating a redirect page is not difficult nor does it require technical skill, since it is easy to define through Snoobi settings.
1. Identifier: The Identifier is used as a basis, when constructing the redirecting address. This causes the tag to only show in the address. Examples of Identifiers: theguardian08 or banner_february.
Avoid using any special characters when creating the address. Alphabets from A to Z and numbers from 0 to 9 can be used. Replace empty spaces with an underscore, _. Unlike in the other Ad tracking setting, do NOT place any percent marks here!
2. URL for the target page: Here, copy and paste the address, where you want the ad to lead to.
Example of site address: http://www.company.com/manufacturers
Example of file address: http://www.company.com/whatsnew/catalogue.pdf
3. Page name: Come up with a self-explanatory name, which clearly describes the content of the page ot file. This name will only been seen in the Snoobi report (under “Pages”). This name may contain spacing and special signs.

4. Save the information.
5. Link » After the information has been saved, a “Link >>” appears after the redirection. Click it and copy the address it displays. The address resembles the following: http://redir.snoobi.com/redir.php?account=company_com&id=theguardian08
The purpose of this is that the original address is replaced (for example: http://www.company.com/products/cameras.html) is replaced with this new address (for example: http://redir.snoobi.com/redir.php?account=snoobi.com&if=theguardian08)
If the ad is located on an outside site or in an advertisement media, on a site that you can’t edit, send the link to the site admin or to the advertisement media.
6. Changes into the source code. Theadvertisement media's webmaster or other staff staff changes the advertisement's or file's target address so that when it is clicked in the future, the visitor is directed to Snoobi redirect page (http://redir.snoobi.com/redir.php?tili=yritys_com&id=theguardian08). The Redirect page saves the visitor data and then directs the visitor forward to the real site.
7. Optional. If you are doing a redirection for an advertisement, add the Identifier as: %id=theguardian08% into the settings of Ad tracking.
In other cases, you may wish to increase the importance of the site by configuring it into the Goal settings. The identifier should also in this case be: %&id=theguardian08%.
