Tracking advertisements
The benefit of tracking ads
Ad Tracking can be used to measure all forms of advertising over the Internet as well as advertisements that try to drive its audience online. Ad tracking is an easy way of evaluating how useful an advertisement is:
- how many visitors the ads generates and what they do on your website
- which advertising channels work the best to entice quality visitors
- which sponsored search terms bring the best visitors
- which ads are the most cost efficient.
Basic principle for ad tracking
- Snoobi's JavaScript tag has been installed onto the ad's target page
The ad must be "tagged". This is done by adding an extra identifier into the ad's target address. The identifier is usually ?ad=xxx (or &ad=xxx if the link already contains one or more question marks)
Example: www.company.com → www.company.com/?ad=xxxEnter the same identifier into Snoobi's advertisement settings, while also adding percent marks in front and after it, e.g.%ad=xxx%
Select an ad channel from the menu to view more detailed instructions.
Note! The results of the ad tracking cannot be retrieved retroactively if the ad identifier has been missing from the target address! For this reason, we urge you to include the identifier into the ad's link as early on as possible.
If there is no Advertising panel in your Snoobi report, then this feature is not part of your Snoobi package. Get in touch with your Snoobi specialist if you are interested in gaining the ad tracking feature.
